CPP, Inc. (CPP.com), the exclusive publisher of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®(MBTI®) assessment, announced the latest installment in a series of informational videos with CPP Divisional Director of Research Rich Thompson, which emphasize the value and the proper uses of the MBTI assessment. In this most recent video, “Why Millions Use the MBTI,” (http://bit.ly/1YuIbtE), Thompson illustrates the capacity of the MBTI to offer a straightforward self-awareness that can otherwise be surprisingly difficult to attain. Says Thompson, “The simplicity of the MBTI provides an easy model to understand how one behaves and thinks, and how others behave and think.”
Thompson also explains how the MBTI assessment is very effective at measuring what it is designed to measure, and how his own perspective as a research psychologist has been shaped by his work with the instrument: “My background is as a psychologist, and we often question the MBTI. But in working with it and learning more about it I’ve found it to be a very useful and powerful tool. It has great measurement properties and works exactly as it’s intended to work. . . All of the MBTI information is available in technical supplements and manuals, in terms of the measurement properties, validity evidence and so on–I really wish the critics would actually read those materials before they start making their criticisms.”
This video follows the release of “The MBTI Assessment and its Critics” (http://bit.ly/MBTIandcritics), and “The MBTI Assessment and the Big Five Personality Traits” (http://bit.ly/MBTIandtheBig5).
