Janrain®, the leading company who created the Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) category, today announced that A-LIGN, an independent auditing firm, has provided an attestation that Janrain complies with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Security Rules and Regulations and Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH) requirements.
HIPAA established important national standards for the privacy and security of protected health information, and HITECH established breach notification requirements to provide greater transparency for individuals whose information may be at risk. HIPAA/HITECH defines policies, procedures and processes that are required for organizations — such as healthcare and pharmaceutical companies — that store, process or handle electronic protected health information (PHI).
