When it comes to enterprise data, few voices are as respected as Jason Stamper of 451 Research, who has been commenting on the space for more than 2 decades, and whose work essentially identified “NewSQL” as a category. So it’s no light thing that ClustrixDB was recently featured in a 451 report by Stamper titled Cloud database firm Clustrix adds in-memory processing for 300% performance boost, which highlighted ClustrixDB 8.0’s tripling of performance for in-memory bulk data ingest, in-memory streaming application processing, and high-volume aggregate processing.
Adding 3x performance to scale-out capabilities is ‘No mean feat’
According to Stamper, these improvements are “no mean feat for a database that could already automatically scale out across nodes in a cluster.” This is very much in line with what we’ve been saying all along. The ability to scale out by adding nodes while maintaining ACID compliance is unique among relational database solutions, and the report provides validation that the improvements in ClustrixDB 8.0 meet growing industry demand for a database that excels along multiple performance dimensions.
Companies that rely on OLTP applications are being hit with a double whammy–they need to scale out much further, and they also need much faster data throughput. So our guiding principle in designing version 8.0 was to provide a solution that excelled in both of these areas, and we’re gratified that 451 Research has confirmed the value in our approach.
